Securing Brand Authorization for Bonded Shipments

This guide walks through China’s brand authorization requirements for bonded and non-bonded shipments, including required details and registration steps.

Updated this week

To ship branded products into or out of bonded zones in China, you must complete a brand authorization process through China Customs. This ensures that the brand is properly registered and authorized for export and import under local regulations. This article walks you through what brand authorization means and how to complete the registration step-by-step.

Check if you require brand authorization

Brand authorization is required if your product carries any trademarked logo or branding registered with Chinese customs. You can verify this using the public IPR registry.

This is a mandatory requirement for both:

  • On-bonded shipments (Small Parcel DTC and Wholesale)

  • Out-of-bonded shipments (Handled by Globex within a Bonded Free Trade Zone)

Required details

For non-bonded shipments:

  • Full legal name/entity of Portless (as signed with the carrier)

    • HK or SZ entity, depending on the route

  • Full legal name/entity of the supplier (the tax refund applicant)

  • Product name(s) and SKU(s)

For out-of-bonded shipments (from the bonded zone):

  • Company name: 深圳保宏科技股份有限公司 (Shenzhen Globex Technology Inc.)

  • Product name(s) and SKU(s)

Globex requires a valid customs account number to proceed with brand authorization, as they operate within a Bonded Free Trade Zone.

How to register your brand

Follow this step-by-step guide in the China Customs IPR System to register your brand:

  1. Visit the official China Customs IPR platform: http://202.127.48.145:8888

  2. Complete the required brand authorization form

  3. Submit supporting documents (including trademark proof and exporter details)

  4. Once approved, take a screenshot of the registration confirmation and send it to the Portless team

Things to keep in mind

  • Brand authorization must be completed before shipment is arranged.

  • China Customs may reject shipments if the brand is not registered or authorized.

  • Screenshots must clearly show the brand, registered entity, and approval status.

  • If you're unsure whether your brand needs registration, search for it using the IPR public registry.
